My Home Made Better
At our winter workshop on Saturday, 6th December 2025 we heard from local residents who have improved their homes through solar PV, insulation, heat pumps etc.
It’s hard to know who to trust when it comes to improving your home’s comfort and energy efficiency.
Is insulation really safe – or will it cause damp? Can a heat pump actually keep you warm through winter?
The purpose of this workshop was to hear directly from local residents who have improved their homes through insulation, solar PV and batteries, heat pumps etc
They described what they had done, how they went about it, and any lessons learnt along the way.
We also heard from retrofit specialists offering clear, practical advice on a wide range of options – from simple, low-cost measures to whole-house upgrades – including where to find accredited installers, and how these improvements can make your home warmer, greener, and cheaper to run.
The event was held at the Old Pay Office, in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, and was a collaboration between Portsmouth Climate Action, My Home Made Better, and the Sustainable Conservation Trust.
